ID4 Destroyer, Farewell Toronto, by Robert A. M. Stephens. (Collection of Styx) Well, here we are again. More ID4. Toronto is toast....... I did this in Steve Job's (CEO Apple Computer) Pixar company's, RenderMan (Toy Story) and used Web Objects with QuickTime 4.1.2 Translation and Apple's wonderful ColorSinc for over- rendering to see if I could do it for two goals; first, for final effects with so much light, and two, for pre-animation if someone or a buyer wanted to animate this as Joe Firmage and other high end clients end up desiring to do with my pieces once they have them to do what they want. Normally, I'd use Canoma and Illustrator (for the buildings, as an example, as they always have to be redone to get away from a phony photo effect-look), but in this case I used just RenderMan along with QT Authoring Studio 1.0. It takes tons of RAM but the B & W (Blue and White Yosemite) Mac G3-400 I use for this work has 1.024GB of RAM with 700 MB allotted to RenderMan, I can successfully do this without too much trouble. It's my first go around using just RenderMan and I am still learning it as it is a very high end software. Always learning. One must do this if they paint realism since we do not see things as we see in the harsh coldness of a photo, rather, we see at 75 MHz, in trillions of colors, and thus, the ambiance of atmosphere must be present or we resolute as a photo view, which we do not want. We want it to look as if we are looking upon the real thing. (Note: what was the purpose of taking out the Toronto tower too? They serve really good burgers up there I've heard.....) |
